Beauty Trends & Innovations Conference 2026: Four Themes, and What They Ask of Packaging
More information on the UK government's provisional anti-dumping duty on glass containers imported from China, including what it means if you're sourcing from China now, and how Richmond can help.
On 9 September 2026, the UK government imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on glass containers imported from China, which includes bottles, jars and similar packaging. Depending on the exporter, that's an extra 24.65% to 52.97% on the invoice, as importers are now liable for a guarantee (bank guarantee, bond or cash) for up to six months while the case is finalised.
If you're sourcing glass from China right now, that's a real cost that could be hitting your margins from as soon as this week, unless you are working with the right packaging expert.

Reach out today to discuss your forward strategy for manufacturing your glass packs. We are thankful to say that we have had a strategy of diversifying our glass manufacturing away from China for the last several years. This was driven by two stages of our 3D methodology, Define and Deliver. Define involves ensuring compliance with ESG best practice, not just on paper but in practice; while Deliver includes getting a project into production and keeping it there with stable supply and cost, run after run, regardless of what's happening in international trade policy.
