A Shive or sealing disc&edsp;&edsp;(sometimes also referred to as an inner lid), sits on the top of a jar, underneath the cap. It is designed to prevent the product from drying out prematurely by minimizing its exposure to external elements, thereby maintaining its integrity. Additionally, it ensures that when the user opens the jar's screw-cap, the inner face of the lid remains clean, as the disc prevents the product from coming into contact with the screw-cap. This shive fits most of Richmond's PET Straight Sided Jar range with a R3/70 neck specification.
